In case you haven’t heard team Next Level and team Premium Lifestyle/Wavy Boy will be facing off today in a hood hoop classic played at the Center for Self Enhancement (3920 N Kerby) at 7pm. This event is FREE but donations will be taken for Isha-Charlie McNeely’s Back 2 School Fresh event. Make no mistake, although this game is for charity and it will be a family friendly environment these teams do not like each other. Some might say there is a mutual respect but even that is debatable. What I know is that you should expect no love between the teams until the game clock is at zero.
Here is a quote from Premium’s Jose James Lambert-Gordon:
“Pretty much this games came about after we whooped em this year in Softball 23-7. They didnt handle that Lost too well so of course u Sam and Next Level they think they’re unbeatable when it comes to bball. They threw out the challenge I called my guy Big B Brian morris and told em to get the team together we gotta shut these dudes up for the rest of the yr.”
He goes on to say: “Next level can’t beat us in anything except comedy and Punch line jokes lol.”
Sam Thomspson, GM for Team Next Level sees things differently:
“Team NextLevel has been putting on for the City hoop wise for the past few years going up to Seattle winning tournaments and restarting the I-5 Rivalry. My team is group of underdogs with chips on their shoulders who never hooped with a silver spoon unlike them other dudes. I had a couple cats jump ship but it’s Gucci they will be ready to come home after they see what it’s like on the other side of these ass whoopings. NextLevel has now and Next and we will prove it when we smack these disgruntled former somebody’s. It’s just unfortunate my guys from Premium have to be a part of this slaughter! Fortunately we will be using some of the proceeds for this event to donate to Isha Charlie McNeelys back 2 school fresh an event that is in it’s 2nd year that provides school supplies, haircuts and more to 100’s of kids.”
The focus of the game is turning out to be the match-up between Mac Hopson and Mike James and rightfully so. These are two of the best guards in the city right now and both earning a living playing professionally. Expect to see these two going at each-other early and often. With that said, if you’re anticipating four quarters of one on one basketball you’re mistaking. All you need do is take a look at the rosters to see that you are in store for a show.
