Checked out the King of Roads exhibit at the Barn Exhibit Hall. The Historic Columbia River Highway (built between 1913 and 1922) was groundbreaking for its engineering, scenic design, and use of European road-building techniques to follow the natural curves of the Columbia River Gorge. It’s often called “America’s first scenic highway” because of its emphasis on aesthetics as well as transportation.
